After playing some CTF games on this level, a couple of things come to mind.
We played a pretty good team last night that employed a great D...sniper w/ beam pinned down human sniper from the lift. Ghost pushed forward to camp the spawn and harass/grab human sniper. One stayed in the base to ambush anyone who sneaked through and the last player grabbed the rockets to protect against the hog rush. We may be able to employ a similar defense.
On offense, the tendancy is to jump down w/ the flag and run straight back for the score, but I have seen numerous attempts to do this end in the gap between the two logs. That is a great ambush position for the D.
To counter, if they stop the flag there, don't rush through the gap. Keep one player on the .50 cal and have the other 3 circle wide around the portal and hit from behind.
To avoid this altogether, don't jump down there w/ the flag. If you can, go back down the base and through the portal for a more secure run back for the score, or drop straight down and hide underneath the base until we can secure a hog run to pick you up.

I was there for that game, and to be honest, I wasn't impressed with their D. They had a sniper that covered the right side of the map, leaving the left side uncovered. They only had one person covering for "ambush", which was easily taken down. I think last night, we gave their sniper too much credit. When the flag was taken down, instead of just touching the flag and keeping it in play, I saw us trying to take their sniper down or trying to deal with their distraction. We took our focus off of the flag. When we played D, they never once grabbed the flag. It is my opinion that the more you have at the base, the stronger defense you have. They had sniper on offense and not once did I get sniped... why? because I was in cover. That led to their team having to beat us without their sniper, which is why they failed. Just my opinion..

The best thing they did I think was coordinate between the Ghost and the sniper. When you spawn under Ghost fire, the sniper has time to get a bead on you and take you down. That Ghost was what killed me the most, but when he didn't get me he flushed me into the open where the sniper had free shots. Not a bad plan.
